Learn to like beer and wine (read all 2 entries…)
Untitled 4 years ago

Lately I’ve been drinking both beer and white wine, but I still don’t like it. It’s more just sliding down. I need to grow up and quit drinking alco-pops =D

Oh, please

Yeah, drinking alcohol is just like running around with a machine gun.

Why do you even care? And please respond to the comments you are commenting on, and stop with the pictures.

Maybe a different brand of beer?

I can’t really stomach just about anything domestic but I do like Guiness and Blue Moon and Japanese light beers. I guess I’m one of those scary dark beer people. :D But what I’m saying is, maybe a different type of beer would float your boat better. Have you tried going to a nice bar or brewhouse and asking for a recommendation? A place with a good selection and knowledgable staff might help you find a beer that really clicks with you.

I’ve tried white wine and I just can’t go in for it. I think I’m doomed to be a sweet red wine fan for life. :)

Yeah, I’ve tried some kind of German light (uh, colour) beer that wasn’t too bad. I couldn’t get down a sip of dark beers =P

As for whine; I drank some kind of sparkly, cold red whine that was okay. And a lot of white wine at a party, but I have no idea of what brand it was.

Whine is when you make sound, wine is fluid

Ah, a typo.

I see. Or were you intoxicated when you typed that out?

So, are you learning some good vintages? Or do you just swill it till you’re good and soused?

Where did I type “whine”?

As a matter of fact, I think I have. It was okay =)

What is it that you do not enjoy about beer?

I tend to drink a broad range of beers. Ranging from MircoBrews, Domestics and various Imported beers from around the world.

The trick with Beer, as it is with distilled spirits and wine, is finding one that you do like. Similar to music. If you do not like a song/band you do not listen to them over and over until you like them, you listen to other music that you enjoy. Then over time you might even grow to enjoy that other song/band.

I doubt you can get this over there but this is the best starter beer, because it is a sweet beer and very good during the summer, www.grainbelt.com/.

Most of the Women I know will not drink beer at all. Then they try Premium and
over time they try, and often enjoy, other beers.

It’s possible that I’ve seen that beer here, but I’ll look the next time I’m grocery shopping, thanks! =)

"Take a drink"

Can I ask which wines you have tried that you like? A lot of white wine is just super-sweet and horrible (to me anyway, sales suggest many people like it!). It’s really down to finding what things you like, and developing from there.

Can you attend wine-tastings where you live? That’s a great way to be able to try a little of several wines, here other people’s comments, ask about recommendations etc.

If you have any you like, maybe can recommend some. Slainge!

Hi!
To be honest, I don|t really know what wines I’ve tried. It’s been at school where you get served by a waiter and you don’t get to see the bottle. Last time I saw it was a chardonnay, but that’s all. And I think I might like the sweet ones, cause I had a glass that was really sour once, and it wasn’t ,my best glass =)

I have no idea if there are wine tastings here, but I guess there are somewhere here..

Hi,

Not knowing what you’re drinking does make it a bit tricky to know what you like! The “sour” glass you had was probably a sauvignon blanc, which is a white but quite “gooseberry” flavour. Can be good, esp. chilled, but not everyone’s taste.

I personally prefer red wine, but a bad one is really pretty awful. The best wines I’ve tried are pinot noir, but a bad pinot noir can be truly awful!

If I can recommend you to look for one wine to try, if you have a chance please look for Chateau Musar. It’s a red wine from Lebanon (don’t laugh!), but it’s the wine I’ve found tends to be mst easily enjoyed by non wine drinkers. It’s a big flavour, very fruity, and easy to drink. I’ve enjoyed 1994 and 1996 of those. 1998 I had recently was not quite as good, but still same style.

Enjoy!

Heh, yeah, I|ll try to look at the bottles next time =)

I haven’t been able to drink red wine, except bubbly ones, and that was on vacation in Italy. I didn’t really like it, but it was much better than the ones I get here in Norway..

Italy does have some great wines. I haven’t been in Norway for a few years, but I remember it being very expensive for any alcohol, so maybe not the best for wine? If you have a chance to look for the Chateau Musar I’d recommend it, and if you do find any you like, let me know and I can probably recommend some similar. I’ve had a lot of pleasure from really great bottles of wine over the years, and I’d be happy if I could give even a little help to someone else to enjoy the same.

Hanna! has gotten 3 cheers on this entry.
