There’s the rub.
One word makes all the difference.
dang

worthy is the key word there! I am sure you are very worthy, but also being very married puts you out of the running.
Sorry!

I can think of many other reasons that put me out of the running even before that fact that I am married comes into play.
1. Distance, I live 1500 miles from you.
2. Association, we have never met. You have no idea what I look like in person, act like in the 3d world, sound like, You may hate my voice, and so much of my thought processes.
3. Chemistry, Even if I lived closer to you and associated with you in the 3d world and you were not turned off by my looks, voice, or personality, there may not be a “spark” there.
So, Yes I am married but that is irrelevant as the other three factors supersede that.

I never thought of all of those other factors! :) Probably because the married criteria supersedes the others for me. I don’t even begin to consider the other factors when the married box is checked. :)
And don’t forget, it works both ways. I mean, how do I know you could overlook my warts, birthmarks, scales, cough syrup addiction, ingrown toenails, and chronic hiccuping problem?

By saying that you are implying that you could meet someone here on 43things and end up dating, yea even making love in a storm with them?
As one who has been here for more than two years and meeting people on-line for over ten years, my experience is that I will never meet 99.999% of all the people I talk to, in real life. As a matter of fact, I have only ever met one 2d person in the 3d world.
Knowing that the 2d and 3d worlds rarely collide has given me a freedom, freedom to really be myself, warts and all and to relax and enjoy meeting people with no boundaries set.
Here, a fat old married man in Texas can flirt like crazy with a witty lady in CA like he is 16 again.
It’s all good.
Chemistry is a prerequisite for a relationship? I guess I just value different things more. Like the ability to talk forever about anything. ...Wait is that considered chemistry?

an element of chemistry! :) Absolutely! Along with sharing humor, mutual attentiveness, etc. All that good stuff.
Nosce te ipsum is listening to Ben Folds.
“finding a worthy cohort.” You know that is the hardest part. What good is making love without love.

Let’s hear them.
Complicated and all that.

a “type.” Every time I have ever thought I had a “type,” I met someone devastatingly attractive who most decidedly did not fit that type.
It’s the type of person someone is, how they carry themselves, what sets them apart, how intelligent they are, do they have a sense of humor, are they strong but also empathetic – all of that.
Yes, physical attraction comes into play. But I have seen lots of men and women who look dynamite on the outside, and then…they open their mouths. Attractiveness quotient: 0. On the other hand, there have been lots of people who didn’t catch my attention at first, then you get to know them a little and you realize they are Total Hotties.

When there is that chemistry there.
One of the things I love about Sleepless in Seattle is that he knows when he touches her. Ah, chemistry!
Gads! Did I just mention that I not only watch but like Sleepless in Seattle? I have been married too long.

That was the initial point, glad you picked up on it! :)
A perfectly good lightning storm shouldn’t be wasted on someone you don’t care about. It is a passionate atmosphere and should be shared with someone you are passionate about.
