Wow, I didn’t think there’d be anyone else with the dream of becoming a photographer for NG. I’ve been reading it since forever, and love the pictures, but I need suggestions on what kind of good camera to get and good schools to go to for photography. That would be so amazing.
Comments:
SLRs is what really matters, not so much the kind. I like Cannon. Most of the photographers didn’t major in photography/art, which I think is nice to know.
It’s actually “Canon,” for future reference. Nikon is nice too. I have an SLR Leica – great brand for manual cameras.
Well like most things it depends on your budget. Im looking round for a digital SLR at the moment and the best low budget camera is probably the Nikon D50 at around £300 without a lens. A decent lens is at least £200 more althoguh what lens you need varies depending on your subect matter. Obviously these are bottom range things but currently being a student its probably what I’ll be getting.
Manual cameras are equal or better in quality to all but the best digital cameras. however the cost of developing film and the inconvienience of not being able to see what you have taken outweigh the benifits in my opinion. I curwently use a Konica manual SLR camera with a Tamron 28-80 lens.
Nice dream btw, I don’t know about NG in particular but travelling the world and taking phtos for a living is certainly my life aim. Hope it works out for everyone.
