get out of debt
Untitled 2 years ago

Thanks to my dearest friend, I’ve finally gotten a budget plan that seems to be able to work. I’m very excited about it and want to see us out of debt totally in a few years. Okay, several few. Still, heading in the right direction and happy about it.

What is the

plan? I find it helps to publish it. Makes us feel more accountable or something. Plus maybe we can copy you ;)

The Plan that is Working for Me

It is from Mary Hunt’s Debt Proof Living. The gist is you save 10%, give 10% and live on the rest. With that 80% you are living on, you pay the minimum on your debts (unless you can pay more) and when one is paid off, you roll over that amount into the next one so you never have to pay more, but it keeps going faster. The key for me was to put some money every
payday in a fund for things that come up. I’d always be so anxious to pay my bills I’d run myself out of money then we’d need tires or we’d have a medical expense or whatever comes up (and something always does!) and I’d have no money left and back out would come the credit cards. This keeps me on track and I’ve made serious progress in the two months I’ve been doing this. Yay!!
