What exactly is twitter? I heard about it on NPR and I am officially old now because I just don’t get it. Any insights?
The question the site poses is “What are you doing?” But it’s surpassed that now.
It’s not specifically for any one thing. It’s like a mini-blog where your posts have to be under 140 characters or less (roughly the length of a text message). I use it just to post random thoughts throughout the day, as most people do. Some people use it to post news blurbs with links (like Digg and CNN). Some people use it to advertise or announce updates for other sites. Some people use the site to tell stories in bite-sized chunks. I think the appeal really comes from knowing other using the site. I probably wouldn’t do it if I didn’t have any friends.
I hope that made a little sense because it’s hard to really explain twitter.

I love that. If I still lived in the tech world of San Francisco I would be using this… but now that I am living in relative no woman’s land I see how this isn’t oh so useful. Neat concept though. Thanks for taking the time to explain!
