It took going through an intense program and doing harder work than I’ve EVER done for me to feel truly happy for the first time in my entire adult life. I choose happiness. It really is a choice, but sometimes you don’t have the tools or the power to choose it. You have to deal with those things getting in your way before you can simply ‘be happy.’ Some people use therapy, some people write, some people make art, some people join groups—for me it was doing a training class started by Dr. Phil. Whatever you do… the steps are big and the work is difficult. But nothing is more worth it. Once you feel happiness… you gain focus in the rest of your life, to say the least.
The secret to happiness? It’s a HABIT. You have to practice it, just like you have to practice for a sport, a musical instrument, or meditation.
