Excellent. From the hauty intellectual narration by the critic, to the freeze frame of Eve, all the way to the masterful acting of Betty Davis as an aged actress fearful of the youth around her to the betrayal by Eve this film sucked me in and spit me out. It is exciting to see a great film hold up for over 50 years…it still works great today.

Agreed
Even though I could kind of guess the ending, it’s superbly acted and well written. I’m guessing (though I don’t know for sure, someone else enlighten?) that it was revolutionary in terms of writing style at the time of release, too, since it begins at the END and then flashes back to the beginning of the tale of betrayal before returning to the present day again. I’m assuming storytelling was more linear prior to this film.
