the stephanopolis sunday morning show a few weeks back. the panel was gingrich, george will, and 2 people i didn’t know who i guess represented the left.

it was refreshing to watch this panel discuss things in a calm relatively non-partisan manner. i agreed with some of the things the conservatives said, and some of the things the left said. and they recognized legitimate points from eachother.

the things they were saying were genuine and real, and what they actually believed. no posturing bullshit. not an argument to see who wins and who can make the other side look bad, but a legitimate discussion of ideas. and some ideas were good on both sides.

then i see gingrich on hannity and colmes recently, and he’s a ridiculous partisan hack again. stewart should have taken them down instead.

it’s shows like that, and pinhead propagandists (like a couple of people on this site) that help push the country apart. those who view every discussion as a zero sum debate with little regard to the truth. they suck.

i’m of the thought that the 2 party system is a major cause of these kinds of problems. i don’t know if another system would be better, but there’s definitely major problems inherent in our current system.

i say we start a party in the middle. take the best ideas from the left and the right. someone call mccain and the gang of 14. we’ll see what we can get started.
