try out last.fm
Company 2 years ago

I’m here at work on a Sunday (??!!) and I expect to be pulling an all nighter just like I did once at university. I even have junk food and vanilla coke at the ready. So I thought I’d give last.fm a go and I have to say so far I am seriously digging it. I’ve discovered Windsurfing Nation and Modest Mouse. Maybe I will find out about some of the obscure (to me and I am not even a Top 40 kinda gal) music that Ira listens to…

Oh no! Just realised Windsurfing Nation was the name of the song not the band. Oops.

Hey, my music's not THAT obscure :)

I would love to find more good obscure music – as the little musicians need supporting! – but I just don’t have the time and money at the moment. The ones I like now, most of them aren’t really that obscure! I mean, if I had money, the next cds I’d get would be Amy Winehouse and MIA. They’re pretty well-known :)

I had a last.fm account quite a while back, though I’ve pretty much abandoned it now. They must’ve built in many new features since then – if I find the time I’ll go back and look around :)

Have you tried Pandora? I’ve never found it very useful myself.

It was a compliment

I like the fact that you clearly dip and delve into unfamilar musical waters on a regular basis. Funny about Amy Winehouse – I did not know a single ounce of her music but know all about her supposed heroin problem and had written her off as a Lohan/Spears-esque starlet. I heard her music on last.fm and she has an amazing voice. I really hope she gets better and realises her potential.

I took it as a compliment :)

Just wish I could do more. And agreed on Amy Winehouse – she’s from my part of London y’know :) Have you heard this? I’m not much interested in the gossip on her – just think her music is great, and really want her to do well. But if anything happened to her – that Rehab song is gonna make tragic listening.

Picasso's Muse has gotten 5 cheers on this entry.
