Why is it that every time I start a song I never end up finishing it. I get distracted, take time off and move onto a new idea or song, and have tons of unfinished songs on my blackberry. I need help. Plus I think I need to learn the format of a song. What do ya think??? Any suggestions???

and print it out on paper. Then start jotting notes next to the lines. Things like, I’d like this part to be quiet, and this part to sound huge, or piano should go here, or melodic ideas, or where you want the song to go. It’s amazing how a song can develop when it’s on paper and you take 10 minutes to actually start to edit it. With my songs, the origional idea almost always takes a back seat to a new and better concept. I am by no means a pro, but I like to finish a song every once and a while. Good luck to ya.
