pay off my credit card debt (read all 2 entries…)

Spending  — 1 year ago

My getting out of credit card debt is dependent upon me following through with two other goals which is to live within my budget and save money. I tend to buy frivolous things that I do not need. They are usually bad for me and contribute nothing meaningful to my life. I have to stop charging money on my credit card and living by “if you don’t have the money, you can’t buy it.” If anyone has any tips about ways to save money, let me hear them! Any and all tips are welcome!

Freeze the credit card-literally! I read this in a book. Put the card in an old ice cream box, pour water over it & freeze it. Then the next time you want to buy something & don’t have the cash for it, you’ll have a long time to think about whether you really need it or not while the ice is melthing!
Good luck :0)

Hang your guilt on the refridgerator.

I have had the same problem with frivolous buying. This is what helped me: Hang a piece of paper on your fridge and write down every little purchase on it. After a while, you will get to see on paper where all of your money is going and this makes you start to think twice about those little purchases.

The next time you are tempted to buy a magazine or a coffee (or something else you want but don’t need) you will think “I don’t want to have to write this down.”
