Get a digital SLR camera
Worth doing!
Finally!!! — 11 months ago
OK I’ve done it. I have bought a DSLR. Now it’s a secondhand one so don’t laugh! After a very lucky search of Ebay I came across an Olympus E-10.
My elder brother who is also into photography has had an E-20 for several years and I have always been impressed with the images he was getting out of it. In fact he convinced me that it’s not the number of pixels your camera has it’s the quality of the optics.
In a leap of faith I got the E-10 which has 1000 fewer photosites than the E-20 but who’d of thought it when you see the images it captures. I am absolutely astonished with what the camera produces.
I am currently building up my goodie bag with Olympus accessories: I have a wide-angle-converter (WCON-08B) and a tele-converter (TCON-14B). I’ve even managed to get hold of the official case.
Next on my list are: the FL-36 flash, the TCON-300s 400mm (35 equiv) tele-converter, and the MCON-35 macro converter.
I have read that the E-10 has one benefit over the E-20. The sensor used in the E-10 is sensitive to IR and thus this opens up a whole new creative area for me – digital IR photography.
I’m really looking forward to taking some very nice photographs.
