I had a memorable run in with one at the age of 17. I was working on the waterfront staff at camp and we were waiting for the kids to arrive. A red hornet flew in my direction and I waved him off, but he just kept coming my way. So I figured I would back off but he kept following me!
So I ran about 15 feet to see if I could get out of range of his thousand little bug eyes… but no good. I ran the other direction about 30 feet and he was still after me. At that point I was madder than he was, so I stopped and turned around. In my head I was thinking “Alright you want it? Bring it… “
I stuck my left arm out and he took the bait. He landed and stung me a split second before I smacked his brain into goo. It left a mark but it didn’t compare to the satisfaction of finishing the little muther off.
The best way to deal with what you fear is to do what you fear
