PurpleHeather is a Tree Hugging Extroverted De-Clutterer

Pass ST2 (life insurance) exam - Institute of Actuaries (read all 34 entries…)
Still failed - the appeal upheld the decision 2 years ago

At least I tried. They took an age to get the result to me but I would have wondered “what if…” if I didn’t appeal.

I have a tutorial the day after tomorrow and my exam is in three and a half weeks time. It is enough time after my other exam to get this aced. I know my stuff inside out so will spend the week between the two exams doing past exam questions.

Go for it!

It’s tough with all the exams but so worthwhile. They do end eventually. The work is very interesting and can be very varied – you don’t get such a wide range of options with many other professions.

There are all the jokes about actuaries being boring – well some are but a lot aren’t. The people who tell those jokes (often accountants) are just jealous and couldn’t have passed the exams!

What are subject are you studying and what year are you in?
If you’re not in your final year have you got summer holiday work in a firm of actuaries yet? This is a very good way of showing you are interested and showing a company how good you are before the graduate entry programmes start. It happens a lot in the UK and is probably worth investigating in Sweden.

Also you can find out in advance if you like it or not! That’s invaluable.
