help people escape cults
A very worthy goal 2 years ago

Helping people escape from cults can be very, very hard to do. Most cults indoctrinate their members with some form of “thought stopping” technique. They also use “loaded language”, described by Dr. Robert Lifton in Thought Reform and the Psychology of Totalism. These things make it very hard to get through to a cult member that you care about.

It bothers me that there isn’t more I can do right now to help people see the truth behind destructive cults.

International Cultic Studies Association

Check out the International Cultic Studies Association, or ICSA. They have some great resources available. I believe they also are having an upcoming conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, this June 2008.
