I’ve been researching about this for years since I am an avid gym goer who does cardio and weight training religiously. Many articles can be found here… http://www.bodybuilding.com/
From a size 38 waistline, I already have 32 to almost 31 inches. The size of my belly has shrunked significantly, though the so called hard to lose “love handles” are still there. But I’m holding on to my training.
Tip: no amount of crunches or sit ups would do good for losing the fat around the stomach. Cardio exercise (running the best, cycling is great) is your best friend. Burn off the fat and calories. But the most important is your diet. No need to starve yourself, just make changes to your regular diet. As much as possible lose the carbs and replace much of fiber rich foods such as fruits and vegetables.
Though I am not saying skip the crunches and sit ups. These are still important as to strengthen the muscles around your waist and stomach area. But you need to lose also the fat above those strengthened stomach muscles to make them show the true toned muscles beneath.
I’m no certified gym instructor, but hey, it works for me. :-)
