Take Photos of 43 Different People in Bakersfield Reading Rumi (read all 37 entries…)
#29 - Emma, at the Riverbed 2 years ago

This was such a fun time tonight. I was supposed to take photos of my friend, Kaitlin, but she never showed up. Instead, it was my two youngest children and myself, cavorting together.

And reading some Rumi. And taking photos. And laughing.

I adore this shot.

such it is

when you spend time with Rumi. There were many spirits in the Riverbed last night. It was incredible.

Emma was experimenting

to see what made them appear.

It isn’t Madonna or High School Musical. It is “The Sound of Music” reading Rumi, dancing and laughter!

Okay, you've succeeded in convincing me

I will have to read some Rumi. All these Rumi photos have gotten me ever so curious.

I've read some Hafiz

but the Rumi fixation is specific to my goal. My next poet-photo situation will be Rilke.

I figure I am on a roll with the “R’s”.....then, maybe Mary Oliver. Nice to get a woman and someone who is living in on it!

Mary Oliver

is my favorite living poet. Her book, her latest, Thirst just came out in softcover.

I think every home across the world should have a copy of it. At least one. Better if each family member had a copy.

A lot of it is about grief… perhaps not the world’s happiest subject but something we all deal with yet all avoid.

And it is about living. Living well. Always.

LOVE IT!
