Become more self confident
Rough. 2 years ago

I am trying so hard to be this fun confident energized girl. I appear that way to everyone…even my mother. She thinks I’m over confident…which makes me even more under confident. I just want to be myself…and I don’t know who myself is.

Its hurts alot. That also why I started cuting myself a whle back. I didn’t know how to let the real me out…

Anyone else have this problem?

It sounds like

being confident is important to you as it is to a lot of people, and there is nothing wrong with that.
But I suggest not working on confidence directly and instead work on learning a new skill or improving an existing skill. Take something that isn’t too difficult but yet takes some effort to accomplish. As you make progress on this small goal, your confidence will get a bit of a boost. The more you value the task or project you take on, the bigger the boost of confidence you will get once you complete it or reach a milestone for it.

It important that whatever task or goal you set it not be too big, too lengthy or too difficult. At the same time you don’t want it to be trivial or too simple either.

I hope this helps.

I have some more thoughts

on confidence. Author Susan Campbell writes about being transparent and telling the truth, what she calls, Getting Real.

She says that “a lot of people think that
in order to be attractive, you need to appear cool, together, or confident. But REAL confidence comes from accepting yourself as you are. When we share what is going on within ourselves we do it simply in the interest of being transparent not as a way to getting a certain favorable response. Letting go of trying to control other peoples’ responses to you is one of the greatest confidence-builders there is. And from my
own experience, I have come to the conclusion that I am most lovable
when I am most transparent.”

Sharing yourself in this way isn’t easy for many of us, but I believe in Susan Campbell’s ideas and I strive to do it.
