be on time for work every morning for a consecutive week (read all 12 entries…)
Why is this so impossible? 2 years ago

Everyone else manages to make it in on time. At this stage I’m so habitually five to ten minutes late that nobody bats an eyelid anymore, not even the boss. But it’s not a good thing. If I can be consistently in by 9.25, why can’t I be consistently in by 9.15?

I want to have another go at this – although a little voice inside is telling me “it doesn’t seem to matter that you’re always late so why bother to make the effort?” But it kinda matters to me, though I can’t imagine why since I’m getting away with it. Anyway, I shall try, and see what happens.

9.16 this morning, but only because I left early so I could put on some laundry on the way out.

Edit: Good god, I’ve just noticed that I started this goal a year ago. And I could probably count the number of times I’ve been in on time since then on my fingers. Sigh.

Interesting

I think some goals are important in and of themselves and others are important not only because you want to achieve X but because you want to know that if you say you’re going to achieve X, you have the discipline to follow through on it and you won’t let yourself down.

When I wrote my NaNoWriMo novel, committing and following through were as important as actually having a readable piece of work at the end. I know you can do this.

I know nothing of the sort...

but thanks for the vote of confidence :o)

I think you’re spot on – I just want to know I can do it.

calypte 2010: the year of PMA!

maybe

you need to aim to be early for a while?

Calissa is moving soon.

*hugs*

Hang in there, gorgeous. I know you can do it. Going to bed earlier helps too.

Snap!

I find living (arriving) to a time pretty hard as well.

I mean, technically, what does it matter whether you get to work at 09:15, 09:25 or 09:35?
Unless you have something specific (like a classroom of kids to teach who are there at 09:15) then surely it’s not a big deal?

I’d like to be able to get to work earlier – but I’m not going to beat myself up about it.

I have the times I’ve turned up to work every day (more for figuring out how much time to allocate to various projects). The directors have sort of said our core hours are 09:30 – 16:30. So as long as you are here for those hours, you can shuffle things around a little (arrive early, leave late). But we are allowed exceptions too – so it’s all good.

But the last three weeks I’ve arrived at:
09:05, 09:00, 09:00, 09:10, 09:10
09:00, 09:00, 09:40, 09:30, 09:35
09:15, 08:55, 08:45, 09:20, 09:20

It’s just all over the shop. (well, the last two weeks have been)

I don’t know what to suggest really. Perhaps set your clock a few minutes earlier? Or have a second alarm which says you have to be out of the door asap (but one that lets you get to work a little early?)
