meditate daily (read all 43 entries…)
I got out of the habit

I was once in the habit, & found that I really made progress, felt grounded, had a sense of belonging in the world, etc. and then I stopped one day. I’m not sure why.

I will begin again.
Now.

just like training a puppy

watching the noise come & go – I had a teacher use the analogy of training a puppy—puppies (& our minds) are accostomed to wandering off, & when they get excited, they pee everywhere… when the puppy goes someplace you don’t want it to, you don’t smack it, you gently guide it back to the paper.

Likewise, watching the mind, noticing it is “thinking”, we just note, “ah, thinking” & then go back to the breath or whatever you’re using to focus.

I like that… & then the other analogy is that of a train…

just because a train is going by, doesn’t mean you have to get on – sometimes it just comes & goes & you wait for the next one. Meditation is a little like that.. a thought comes, you have a choice of whether to follow it, or not. I often promise my mind we’ll take the very first train (if it wants to ) that comes AFTER my sitting time is over. By then my mind might just have calmed down a bit & I might not need to…

Everyone can do it – if you want to.

Good luck!
