be more seasonal (read all 2 entries…)
Fall is here 1 year ago

and I’m still wearing summer clothes… but that’s just cuz it’s still quite warm…

hmm…

but I have been making a point to notice the slight slight changes in the leaves… the other day in the park near my parents’ place I found a leaf with the very edge outlined in red…

yikes… am i ready for it.

oh I so hope it won’t rain buckets like it did last year so I can get the full FULL effect of the changing colors of the leaves!

The light is changing

The days are a lot shorter now. I celebrated the Equinox with some women friends the other day, & it has made me even more conscious of how quickly night is falling now!

that sounds great- the celebration

what did you all do?

RuthG subsides (or rises) into thanksgiving

Let's see,

we sat in a circle around a boiling pot (of water) over a fire pit, read/listened to a couple of poems, talked about being women (it was the launch of a new quarterly group for some women who know each other through church), drank raspberry-leaf tea made in the pot, did a circle dance while one young woman played her fiddle in a Middle Eastern style, then did some individual jigging while she played a Celtic dance tune, did some chanting/musical improvising on the word holy, then talked some more, for quite a while.

Since the equinox is a point of balance (equal length of day & night), one of our themes was balance in our lives. I was impressed with how thoughtful & intelligent these women were; I hadn’t known any of them very well. It was way cool.

wow, ruth, thank you for telling us about this

in such detail… It sounds like a lovely, warm evening with new friends… And fascinating…

What is the significance of the boiling pot of water?

Ah, of course one was tempted

to start chanting, “Bubble, bubble, toil and trouble,” but actually as far as I know it was just for making the tea. :-)

Jessy is stressed

Ruth, that is way cool

I’m glad you got to exoerience that, and very glad you shared it.

Ooh, & I forgot to mention

it was on the lakefront, so we had the gentle crashing of Lake Michigan waves in the background. :-)
