I am going on a trip around the world for over a year and i have had to sell EVERYTHING in my house. Furniture, clothes, books, picture frames (not pictures) forks, lights (save those for last) im talking everything. I have one box full of keepsakes and one backpack that i am takig with me and that is it. It is probably the most freeing thing i have ever done. I can go any where and do anything now and i have nothing holding me back. I highly recommend if for no other reason than the zen like euphoria of not being tied to material things. Beleive me i was a pack rat, clothes horse, who spent way too much on shoes and takes way to many trips to the mall, but once i started getting rid of stuff it became much easier.
