Space Needle 2 years ago

There’s a silver lining to most things in life, and today wasn’t the exception. I had an event at Seattle Center. Parking was a nightmare, and I ended up on the other side of the venue :S

Heading to the pavilion, I walked under the Space Needle and I looked up; the view almost knocked me over. The sky was almost pitch black, but it’s distinctively indigo. I love this structure from all its angles! It is so appealing. I wouldn’t have seen this view if I had found a parking spot around the corner ;)

The Space Needle

Isn’t there a restaurant inside the needle?

Was their an original purpose for the space needle, or is it just for looks?

Landmark

Yes, there’s a restaurant on the top. On a windy day, I don’t recommend it for the faint-hearted (read: me).

As far as I know, the Space Needle was built as an architectural accomplishment for the 1962 (or was it 1964?) World Fair. With its respective proportion, it’s much like the Eiffel Tower for Paris’ Universal Exposition in 1889 (?).

I’d google it, but I’m too tired… maybe tomorrow ;)

LunaNueva has gotten 5 cheers on this entry.
