Thanks to my dumb dad and his stupid job, I can’t leave! Can you help me?

I know it seems like forever . . .
but you only have a few years until you graduate from high school, and then you can go wherever you want. When I was 15, I wanted to get away from home just as much as you do—maybe even more. One option, which was the one that eventually got me out of there, is to study as hard as you can so you can get into the college of your choice (and maybe even get scholarship money to pay your way through).
It’s tough not to be free to go where you want, but if you hang in there, you’ll probably be okay. It sounds like your dad doesn’t have much choice about it himself, if his job requires him to be in Texas. Good luck!
So… it’s hopeless?!! Should I run away? Should I find a girlfriend that lives in a cold state? Should I kill myself? Should I kill my dad?! I don’t know what to do!!! I don’t want to commit suicide and kill my dad, I want him to be alive. He’s at a risk for heat stroke in 10 years I bet cause he’s getting old!
Hmmmm . . . of the options that you listed, I think finding a girlfriend who lives in a cold state sounds the most practical. If the heat is getting to you, try doing what my ex-boyfriend used to do when he was living in Texas (provided you have a driver’s license or permit): get into the car, turn the air conditioner on full blast, and cruise around the neighborhood until icicles form on your windows.
You could also try to persuade your dad to take frequent “male bonding” vacations with you to Alaska or Montana. Leave travel brochures in conspicuous places around the house, and program his video recorder or DVR to record shows about hot babes in cold locations. Who knows? He might end up falling in love with the North himself and get a new job or a girlfriend of his own up there.
By the way, worst of all, I’m stuck here til’ 2010, but it may change. Also, my dad hates cold weather so I’m desprite. I can’t even understand why he even likes it here.
