I played bassoon in high school. As long as you can figure out the correct mouth position (I never know how to spell that word) for a double reed (it’s a little different than a flute, which I also played), you are in business.

Of course, I jumped from oboe to bassoon, so the switch was probably a little easier for me.

Bassoon was fun. You will go from reading treble clef to bass clef, but I played piano so I knew both. If you don’t know both, you might want to practice reading music a little so it comes quickly to you.
