I'm sad to report...
that I’m still messing about and have made very little progress, and now here it is December. In fact, I have been noticing that fact for the past several days, but thanks for pointing it out and keeping me accountable. Keep on bugging me if you don’t see any progress reports. :)

So you can cut yourself some slack.
You seem really busy right now and this is the time of year a lot of things get pushed aside. You’ve been AWESOME about encouraging me on my drawing, it’d be an honor to keep an eye on your progress.
I had a hard time with this one myself and ended up just getting 4 colors of sticky notes and then writing expenses with descriptions on the sticky notes (Home, Car, Medical, Other). Whenever I had time, I added up the amts and saw where my money was being spent. Eventually, I graduated to putting my sticky notes into Excel. The sticky notes are more fun, imho.

Uh-oh...
...and December’s half over. Sounds like a New Year’s resolution to me.
No, seriously, I made a couple entries into Quicken, and I have a pile of receipts on my desk here that I wanted to enter but haven’t, and I keep checking my balance in my bank account every couple of days. I can probably survive the way I’m going right now for the time being, but I would like to have a better handle on my expenses.
Thank you for keeping me accountable. (even though I’m not very proud about my lack of progress.)

What’s wrong with me? Why do I hate hate hate hate hate hate hate the thought of working on this goal?
I think it must be an anger problem. I think that I’m angry that I have to worry about my finances. And I’m angry at myself for poor decisions that I’ve made.
And there’s definitely fear there too. I may find that some big adjustments are in order. I may find that I just can’t take care of myself.

I totally understand. I’ve been there myself. While I don’t want to get into the details, I found myself in tens of thousands of dollars in debt and no assets to show for it.
Currently, I have a house, four cars have 2k in savings and am only 6k in credit card debt. I’ll be out of credit card debt in March of next year.
I understand the fear and the anger. You’ll be surprised what you can do when you start doing it.
Honestly, if you need help, I’m here.

That last entry may sound like I’m bragging, but I don’t mean it to come off that way.
I’m trying to give you hope. I went from avoiding my debts to looking forward to the end of all my debts. It really was a sense of accomplishment.
