This was one of my main issues that I wanted to get done this year. Its probably the one that I am closest to achieving too. At the start of the year I had an awful lot of responsibilities yet it was the lowest priority things that I seemed to be able to do rather than the highest priority.
I had to make some difficult decisions if I was going to achieve this as well as sorting my life out and making a success of myself.
I ended the online gaming, which was difficult due to the amount of really awesome people I befriended from all over Europe during my time playing as well as how succesful we actually were too. I was so proud to be the main guy of such a success story but there had to be a time when I just couldn’t let this get in the way of things any more.
I am still in contact with the majority, not as much as I would like but its still something. I also have a lot of great memories that I’ll never forget.
I spent a month or two away from online gaming but still struggled to become organised. I was still coaching the youth football team and this summer was one of real importance as they were making the move up from 7 aside football to 11. This meant extra focus needed to be spent on the training as well as more time spent with them and new players needed to be signed and friendlies arranged etc.
Taking all this into consideration, I stepped down as manager. Unfortunately the team without me wasn’t strong enough to survive and the club dispanded, although 95% of the lads all went to one club newly formed and I’m still in touch with the majority of them. I’ll miss them all but again I have some great memories of the 4 years I spent with them.
With these two massive hinderences out of the way, I began to focus harder at work and on my course. I didn’t really concentrate hard enough on my course, which should have been completed in June but I’m still working on it but I put a large effort in at work which resulted in a large promotion to co-manager of a college Learning Resources department.
Since doing this I became a hell of a lot more organised, using calenders and diaries more, sorting things out into priorities and setting tasks with deadlines and sticking to them as much as possible.
I’m still some way off my desired level of organisation but I’m a hell of a lot closer and at this rate, I should be really organised in a couple of months time.
