oh man. this game is GREAT. I recommend it to anyone. My previous gf was a fantatic at it. We both learned it together, but since it was on her console, she would practice at home and got WAY good at it. So good that she got two pads and would play two people at once. FOR REAL!
When I first tried it out, I was very confused at translating the up down left right arrows to correspond to the pad, cuz the monitor was vertical, and the pad was horizontal. Weird, but my mind got crossed. After bypassing that, I got a lot easier. When you don’t have to THINK about the moves, and instead just DOING the moves, it’s much better.
My advice to you. If you can find someone who has the game, try it out and see what you think. Dropping the money for A) a console B) the game C) the dancepad might set you back a bit.
Snap. I totally need to get this game. (i already have a Xbox console). I’ve been wanting to get it (along with Karaoke Revolution). If I get DDR, you are more than welcome to come over and play. I live on a first floor apartment, so we won’t be driving any neighbors crazy.
I’ve never played the arcade version of the game. It looks like it’s much harder. For a newbie, I would think the console version would be not only gentler for actual game play, but also for face.
I’m not sure if they make DDR for the Wii. Do they? That would be interesting. I tell you what. If they make it for the wii, THAT would be a much better investment. The wii just rocks! Although that will surely set you back even more money, cuz everything will have to be newer.
If you do buy a dancepad, don’t bother with the fancier versions. I’ve played on several different kinds from cheapest to the super fancy arcade-designed-version-for-home, and actually, the super cheap ones seemed to perform the best and were most responsive.
Oh man, i miss playing DDR.
