Quit blushing because of petty things
Blushing 2 years ago

Sometimes I blush over totally pointless things too.. But I’ve got better recently! The trick is, just not thinking about it- forcing it out of your head, kind of like if you’re trying to go to sleep to stop thinking anything.. though it can make you look kinda spaced out.. I remember once when I was about 11 years old, I was in a pshe class (like health class) and we were having ‘discussion groups’ and some girl started talking about mastubation- I knew what it was, but I didn’t know the name for it.. and so had no idea about what this girl was talking about, but she asked me if I had ever mastubated or something similar, and I went bright red, despite having no idea hwat she was talking about! Of course that looked kinda bad.. I also used to blush whenever other people farted, so it always looked as though it was me.. and I dunno, if i start thinking things through sometimes, or think ‘there’s no reason for me to be embarrassed or blush about this’ i then blush uncontrollably! ARGH! My French teacher used to tease me about my boyfriend all the time and I would get so embarrassed i’d put my bright red head on my arms on my desk until i felt as if i had recovered- it isnt advisable.. i think if you just ignore your blushing other people will too.. luckily i dont take french anymore :)

Hi there...

...just ran across this entry of yours and wanted to let you know that I used to have exactly the same problem. Blushing at everything or small things, I mean. I’m glad you’re getting better, though! And you’ve definitely hit on the solution that worked for me: NOT THINKING ABOUT IT! ;)

I’ve found, too, that it has gotten a lot better as I have gotten older and more confident. I still get embarrassed sometimes, but I’m less likely to blush. And when I do blush (I still do), I don’t feel as bad about it – which makes it go away much faster.

Welcome to 43Things, by the way!

thanks for the support :) yeah i think my blushing has become less of an issue as i became older.. tho i think puberty kinda made it worse- y’kno that weird kinda awkward stage when you’re about 12.. hm. i have lots of problems with confidence tho :s and apparently i have very low self esteem, (of course i dont really believe that myself.. everyone just feels different on different days) .. i blushed in biology today when i was talking to my friend and the teacher asked me a question and i didnt know what she was talking about, as i hadnt been listening.. but that’s been it for a while.. :) xxx def nearly conquered this goal!

hah, i’m glad i make you laugh :) i have hardly blushed at all for aages now :) i read that thing i think it was you who wrote it? about the condition thing where you sweat as well- hm. isnt that normal, just like ‘nervous sweat’.. i get it sometimes if i feel uncomfortable.. (hah, yep i just broadcast it to the world) but you can stop it much the same way as blushing- just ignoring it. maybe i slightly have the illness thingy you mentinoed tho.. but hm. not badly or anything. but ahh, i thought sweating when under pressure or something was normal- i sweat loads in exams, or when i have to talk infront of lots of people.. but hm. not exactly a major life problem, for me anyways.. xx
