commission a large painting (read all 10 entries…)
what the painting will look like in my living room 2 years ago

Here’s what the painting looks like photoshopped onto my living room wall by Kevin (the painter).

You had an artist photoshop a painting onto a photograph of your living room for your work of art commission? So very postmodern.

actually

I have the painting hanging on my wall, but he airbrushed in the furniture, carpet, etc. Pretty cool.

Oh great.

Now I’ve got living room envy. I love your chairs. And your table.

Can I come and live in your house? I’m very small, I’m no trouble.

gracias

It’s a simple living room, but I love it. It’s taken a while to get it there. It used to be packed with all sorts of obscure keyboard instruments. Thanks to ebay, I purged and got all stylish (over the course of 5 years).

You can nap on the couch should you ever be in the hood.

Thank you.

It looks comfy. I will bring my Pzizz.

LL is EXCITED! Matty got his visa!!

Your what?

My Pzizz.

It’s a napping machine. I won a copy of the hardware a couple of years ago, and bought the software earlier this year. It sounds weird but is invaluable for insomniacs. Of course, now that I no longer drink caffeine, insomnia is not so much of a problem as staying awake.

Got to move

the lamp…it blocks the view of the painting as you walk into the room. Either that or ask Kevin to make the painting much larger…

lampola

It’s kind of deceiving because you’d mostly never look at the painting from that vantage. I wanted Kevin to see the setting. I’ll take a better picture when it arrives. Hal – it’s a scene from your past. Hint: liquor store across from Koots is next door.

Maybe

we need to think about commissioning paintings of La Mex and Koots so it could lead to a whole series.

yes!

Kevin could bring out the true character – make it visually meaningful somehow. I’m sending him this now …

The Spenard Room!

I love it! Koots, La Mex, the old Fly By Night Club, The Magic Carpet Ride. Truely it would make a stunning portrait collection of a colorful and as Mr Whitekeys called it a sleazy part of town! Hal, Dan, I think you’re on to something! Kevin could go places with that!

Can I just say

that I love your art-commissioning goals and wish that there was some way for you to make them . . . um, louder? Commissioned work is within the reach of a fair number of people, and it’s a wonderful thing to do both for the commissioner and the commissionee – a great way to support the artists in your life and your world. But I don’t think it’s something that most people ever consider doing.

yes you can

I’ve never commissioned art and I’m a bit of an art dud (it’s hard for me to pay for it) but paying for a friend to make a painting is easier. And probably good training for me. It’s a rewarding expenditure for sure.

Paying a friend to make great music is a rewarding experience as well! Glad you got to feel a bit of the buzz from this side, too!

ha!

Sneaky Forsi—I hope you’re enjoying the record.

absolutely love it!

and haven’t listened to much of anything else. There are a couple of tracks that aren’t quite speaking to me, but I find myself (badly) singing the songs to myself a LOT. Co-workers aren’t thrilled with me at the moment, but they’ll get over it! :)

I’m keeping an eye out for MARC8…!
