I completley understand where you are coming from. Its certainly not simple, but I will share with you a few things that I do.
1. Enjoy 5 deep breaths and think nothing else other than in out in out in out… slowly.
2. zone out with a game of solitaire or sudoku for a few moments.
3. pray… even if its not to god, but pray to yourself or to your brain, just compose a letter in your head and say what you are thinking
4. Notice yourself spinning out. When you start going a million miles a minute… say isn’t that intersting I’m all over the place in my head and I can’t seem to stop it… Becoming aware of it alone takes away some of the power.
5. Be gentle with yourself. remember that most standareds of the world are other people’s standares. if you only do some things for a week at a time, so be it, Don’t force yourself. You will find a way to focus when you have conviction. In the mean time, don’t beat yourself up. just accept yourself as you are.
I don’t know if this helps, but I do believe you have the power to do so. After all, you tood the time to write the comment and it made perfect sense!
