Fashion in Capetown is heating up. More and more work is being exported to that area and then imported back into other countries. Several designers are springing up there, as well.

This video has a lot of good info, but the part about home much start up captital you will need is not necessarily true. There are ways to start with less money, but it’s very tedious and much more difficult, but not an option if you want to design/sell high fashion—for that you need a whole lot of capital.

If you can sew, you may want to take a job somewhere sewing piece work for a short time, or study under a tailor or take classes. Knowing garment construction is crucial to becoming a great designer.
