I called the White House comment line

and left the following statement:

“My name is (name deleted here for security/privacy). I’m a vet of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

“This week’s developments in DARFUR include the announcement by Jan Egeland, UN official, that relief operations in Darfur may have to be halted, due to an upsurge in violence.

“While I realize that our attention and many of the resources may have been diverted to the recovery of the Gulf Coast , I would like to point out that Darfur does not enjoy the advantages of the United States, including a peace which could allow for a speedy reconstruction and recovery.”

The young gentleman thanked me for the comment, and promised to pass it on to the President. I thanked him and wished him a good day.
