Yesterday, I’ve read one of the letters from my subscription of Steven Barnes’ Life Writing entitled “Publishing Short Stories”. It was an eye-opener—at least to me. I had a few “that’s right!” moments while reading through it, and after that I see short stories in a whole new different light.

Barnes said that the short story is important in starting a career in writing since it is already a training in itself. The one about it being one of the fastest ways of getting published all the more made me think about writing them even more. He also mentioned Ray Bradbury’s principle of “one story per week” or “a story every other week”. I’m going to do the later and hopefully in a post 2 weeks from now I’ll could tick it off my 43Things list to change it to “write another short story”. XD
