Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

find a new and better job (read all 12 entries…)
What a slow, uneventful week!

I’m still working at my job. I was thinking they would fire me today but they didn’t. They started acting nicer but that doesn’t completely convince me that they still won’t do it because I’ve witnessed their two-faces in action prior to the onslaught of numerous backstabbings. I was kind of hoping they would fire me. I have big plans for my unemployment time if it’s in the cards for me. Meanwhile, I know it’s in my best interest to remain employed while I search for a new job. I had no such luck in finding one this week. There were barely any jobs to send my resume to and the few I did send off to didn’t respond. I got one response from a temp agency but they only handle temp placements and I didn’t realize that when I sent my resume. The recruiter was really sweet and spent time shooting e-mails back and forth with me. I’m going to keep him on file in case I need to temp, but since I just started my job search I don’t feel that desperate yet. I followed up with the two recruiters I interviewed with last week. The woman was useless and had a little attitude. I don’t think I’ll call her back. The other recruiter said he was thinking of me and that he has some jobs. He promised to call me later in the day because he was in the middle of an interview. I never heard from him. I know it’s a bad time of year to look for a job, but it’s still not very encouraging. Next week will be even worse because of Thanksgiving.
