Read "On the Road" by Jack Kerouac
I have tried 2 years ago

And I have tried. For some reason, no matter how much I want to read this book there’s always a distraction. I have no idea what is up with this, but I’ll git r done eventually.

Maybe you can't get into...

because it is one of, if not the most overrated books of all time. He can be such a lout.

My wife and I had this little game where we would select a page at random and read it out loud until he would exhibit rudeness, thoughtlessness, selfishness or some other jerky behavior. It worked for about six or seven times in a row until we came upon a section that was neutral for so long we got tired of reading it.

Opinion of the book has become one of my litmus tests for independent thinker or lemming.

I think

this is exactly it! I don’t think I’ve ever had so much trouble getting through a book in my entire life. Part of me likes his simplistic way of writing poetry but even that can be quite uncouth. Lots of people whose opinions I respect have recommended this book to me. For some reason I thought it would get better as I got into it, I mean, I figured they liked it for a reason right? I think i’ll reconsider this goal, and probably remove it.

P.S. That game sounds like quite a lot of fun! Reading to your person of choice is always nice, in general, even if it is rude (and i will go as far as to say dry) content. (:

Play the Game!

Just once, you don’t need a partner, but it makes it funnier. Sometimes we hit the lout component in the first paragraph, more often than not somewhere in the random page we turned to.
