get a degree in HR (read all 2 entries…)

School is so crazy!!! Akkk!!! History classes with tons of papers to write and funky math teachers who don’t speak english. But I’m doing something with my life… when I actually take the time to sit down and consider that, it feels pretty good :)

Sounds Great!

BTW, what is HR?

HR is...

Human Resources

Wonderful

Do you have a specific area in which you wish to apply this? I got an AA (two year degree) in “Social Welfare,” in the early 70’s. I then had to go back to school and learn something that would make me a living. There is not much of a market for a “general do-gooder.” :-)

Well...

I planned to major in Human Resource Management so I could be either a generalist, or a benefits manager… I also wanted to minor in accounting so I can be involved in the payroll portion of the business. Right now I’m an HR assistant, and I work with payroll, recruiting, benefits, and sometimes the people problems, it’s just that it would be really hard to progress to manager without a degree. I really love the payroll side, so I think the ultimate goal beyond this one is to either become a payroll manager, or a cost accountant. I like spreadsheets… hehe.
