After the first ten pages, I have no idea how this book got on the list? I am going to persevere and hope it improves…it better improve or it’s going to be a dull week struggling through it!

I'm pretty sure
That when dealing with “The Classics” people attach descriptions that discourage people from saying they didn’t like it, for fear of appearing stupid because they didn’t get it. And so a culture of people who trick themselves into “liking” them because if you say something long enough, you forget that actually you hated reading it, but just said it was great to fit in.
Personally, I don’t like reading to be a challenge, I just want to enjoy the story.
Gathering Dust a Little Longer...
I think I’m glad I don’t say things to fit in! I have used the list to widen my range of reading, and to read the classics, so I am going to carry on through the book and then I can give an honest opinion of the story and the style of writing. Maybe it just hasn’t caught me yet, I think the first few pages are vital, I read the beginning few pages of The Stand, By Stephen King this morning and I can’t wait to get home and see what happens next!
Sorry Ulysses, back on the bookshelf for you, but fear not, your time will come! Maybe on a plane trip somewhere when I have no other entertainment!
