I was on my way out of a store today and accidentally dropped some change. Knowing there are no accidents in the universe, I was really glad when a young guy ran over to help me pick some of it up. I had already gotten most of the coins, but the one he did pick up for me he got a big smile on his face. He said, “It’s a penny… heads up!” I laughed and told him, “It’s all yours. Thank you for helping. Merry Christmas… you won some good luck!” He was so excited and as I left he was telling all his co-workers he was rich AND lucky. It felt really nice to make him and all the others around us smile and laugh tonight. When I went to the car, I found a penny… thought about my goal here… re-opened my car door after the engine was started, and very carefully placed another penny on the ground outside my door in the parking lot. Before I closed the door again, I gave the penny a prayer and a little incantation wish. I said outloud with no one around, “May the person who finds this penny be blessed with an abundance of good luck” To myself I added, “If they are good people, may it good luck always abound… and if not, may they remember me when they see it and it serve as a reminder that all karma comes around.” With that phrase and codicil of justice, I set my prayer aloft, shut the door, and am looking forward to placing a penny (heads up for the finding) in many more places, on sidewalks, and in parking lots. That way everyone who has the good fortune to read this post will know the next time they spot that random penny around, maybe it was me who put it there, laughing and smiling at the thought of my helping Fortuna, the maiden of luck. I’m not going to call this one done yet, though… I have YEARS more work to do before I think I can call this one done.
