FROM THE PUBLISHER
There was an eighth son of an eighth son. He was, quite naturally, a wizard. And there it should have ended. However (for reasons we’d better not go into), he had seven sons. And then he had an eighth son…a wizard squared…a source of magic…a Sourcerer.
My Opinion
While this was probably my least favorite of the DiscWorld books so far, that is not to say that it was not fun to read. As always Pratchett’s humor makes it such a joy to read his books. I enjoyed meeting the new characters and as always it was great fun to follow Rincewind’s adventures. This book was quite a bit darker than the other DiscWorld books that I have read, as it deals with war between Wizardry and Sourcery. Once again Rincewind’s future is left in question and I have no idea where the next book will start from.
Worth a read, but only if you have been introduced to DiscWorld already.
