do a suspension
01-02-2008 1 year ago

There isn’t much I have to say about this thing. I just want to do it. I’ve wanted to do it for a long time. The only problem is that I don’t know—how. Who do you ask? Where do you go?

Suspensions are different from skydiving, bungee jumping, tattoos and tax returns…. no heading in the yellow pages, you know?

Can anyone offer me guidance?

ohh, the puns.

I’d like to do a hangman suspension…. two or four hooks in the upper back. It looks straighforward and I like that I wouldn’t be swinging around in what I’d consider an unnatural position.

I’ll take plenty of pictures for you…. assuming I ever find out where one does this sort of thing hereabouts. The pictures on BME show it going down in what appears to be peoples’ homes, businesses (probably tattoo/piercing parlors doing after-hours ‘hang nights’ or somesuch) and even in the great outdoors, so who knows what Minnesota protocol is.

Next time I find myself at a tattoos shop, I’ll ask the members of the seedy underbelly of the south suburbs of Minneapolis for more info.

Props on the mohawk, by the by. Are you going to be able to keep it? Do you even want to keep it? You should have started with a suspension (or have gone all out and done up a subincision…. THAT would’ve been a shock), that way the mohawk would have seemed tame by comparison.
