Make love in a storm (read all 5 entries…)
Oodalalie! 1 year ago

It is the biggest storm we’ve had in over two years. Or so say the experts. Winds are between 25 – 40 miles per hour, it hasn’t stopped pouring for a minute since last night. One of the big oak trees behind my house fell, taking an unsuspecting acacia tree along with it. Fortunately, they had the decency to fall away from my house and onto the opposite creek bed.

A perfect night it would be to fulfill this goal (or as close as I can get until I travel to the South with a special someone during lightning season). And yet, my prime victim candidate is out of town.

So I am sitting here instead. Alone in my bedroom. Eating a sandwich. And writing to you people.

You remember the movie...

Oooh, and

this could be my mood music…!

Yea! Good song!

Still, heretic that I am, I prefer this version.

The things I could have done with her in my younger days…

Wow, Martika.

I used to covet her hair so badly. And my friend Claire modelled her dancing on her.

How much does she want to be “Like a Prayer” era Madonna here?

Have you seen her now?

Bad news. That’s her husband.

Her hair

is great – that thick black hair I’m so jealous of. Though in both videos it seemed rather high maintenance, she was constantly pushing it out of her eyes.. Or maybe that’s one of those “seductive manuevers” (translation for Simon: seductive manoeuvres) that I’m so bad at.

That’s her hubby? That is bad news. Maybe someone should suggest marital counseling…? :-)

::sigh::

I coveted the hole of Markita, not just her hair, and seeing her spread-eagled while wearing black leather has bought all kinds of memories flooding back.

You know, that video makes me think she wanted to be Michael Jackson too. Whatever was she thinking?

mahinui ever more at home

wild weather

We drove the daughter back to Davis today, and there are downed trees all over town, their roots poking into the air where roots don’t belong.

If I had real courage, I’d have gone to the beach last night and felt the howling. A bit ago it was coming down hard here, but seems to have let up. Storms are exciting for me, but they can be so fierce. One ripped the house up good at the beach a year ago. Here at least we are pretty safe, even if on the bay. It gets noisy, and the plants get torn up. But the house stays intact.

I saw

one very young couple out running in the middle of it yesterday. In shorts. And thin tee shirts. It must have been near the end of their run, because they had that look on their faces like, “It seemed like a fun adventure when we planned it!”

But, yeah, the down side is all the damage. I posted yesterday that an oak tree behind my house fell, and luckily it fell away from my house. That would not have been a nice way to wake up, having an oak tree come smashing through your bedroom ceiling in the middle of the night…!
