January 06, 2008: Cattus Island Park
Distance: 3.5 miles
Elevation Gain: 0 ft (it’s literally at sea level)
Difficulty: Easy

Very easy and relaxing walk, nice views of the marsh and bays. It’s probably be much better in the spring but it was worthwhile anyway. We took the blue trail loop to the white trail that takes you up the beach, backtracked and then rejoined the blue trail back to the Cooper Environmental Center, which was a lot of fun. I have some photos on my flickr if you’re interested.

The next hike I have planned is Cheesequake State Park once there’s some snow on the ground. In early spring I want to head up to Stairway to Heaven on the NJ/NY border and the big hike I’m planning before summer is a 3 day, 28 mile hike on the Appalachian Trail. Still trying to con at least one of my friends into doing it with me.
