My 10-yr-old niece taught me an easy way to cast on, and the knit stitch, and I went online to one of the many tutorials and learned to purl and bind off. It’s so much easier than I ever thought it would be.
Now I’m over halfway through my first project (a scarf, of course, in a simple stockinette stitch (k2, p2), and am really enjoying it. I pick it up whenever I have spare time and have watched (mostly listening!) two movies in the process. It’s incredibly addictive for someone who fidgets as much as I do anyway. It gives me something to do with my fingers. Don’t overdo it though – you get a bit of hand cramps and carpal tunnel pain after a few hours straight. Still, I can’t stop!
