not concerned
i like your amended art-selling goal much better than the first iteration :)
thinking about selling interferes with the purpose of making art, no?
i never once thought of selling something. then again i never once thought anything i made was “art” :)
I'd like to think that
your point of the selling interfering with the making was the reason that I was kinda irritated about the whole price discussion in the first place, and then irritated at the goal in the second place.
Dunno.
This is part of the impetus behind the Art Challenge goal. It should help bring the creation away from being concerned, hopefully away from even an echo of concern with what happens post-creation.
The impending demise of the studio should also assist with this.
I still generally don’t think of anything I do as art. It still doesn’t feel that way, really, still feels more like ‘design’.
what is the "art?"
oooo. interesting. It feels more like design to you. So then what is art for you?
I see art as being almost anything. It can be a cool crack in the sidewalk that you briefly admire. It can be the snow patterns in the sky as it falls. It can be super cool prints on tshirts. It can be websites. It can be blog posts. Anything that enriches. Anything that gives someone some thought.

that is lovely
it’s so nice when you share with us how you see the world, because it’s so sweet. us cranky cynical folks need to be reminded :)
this is exactly what i have been meaning to do
Michael!
Thank you for creating such a fantastic reservoir goal. I feel like I can actually come back to 43T and start using it again in this lovely new year.
It just
needed to be done.
I’d been drifting away from 43T and while that made me sad, it wasn’t what it used to be, in so many ways. And really, the major changes were the motion away from the 43 things themselves as goals, or how their qualities had changed.
But what I found interesting is that those qualities actually needed to change more...
We’ll see how this year goes, but I’m hopeful this will give me some room to explore some of those further changes.
michael has gotten 3 cheers on this entry.
