Packing some lunches, and just gathering things together- Jim’s found a sudden LOVE of a little yummy thing called a “Mochi”... if you can get to a japanese store, you can buy them. Uwijimaya up here, carries a HUGE range of them. They’re basically rice paste/dough buns with red bean paste inside… only they come in LOTS of flavours. TONS of them, in fact! His favourite so far has been pineapple- but not all are fruity or sweet. Some are herb flavoured, etc… Another huge hit? Edamame. (soybeans boiled in the pod, then brushed with butter and sea salt, and served as an appetizer so you eat just the little soybean/peas from inside!) We found good bento-box alternatives for now, in the form of ‘lock lid’ style containers. :) So far, so good!
