Survive winter 2007 (read all 10 entries…)
You would think

a trip to CA would be helpful in surviving winter, but not so much! It was warmer here in IL than it was in rainy, wind-swept Sacramento when we were there. If Eldest Daughter just had to move a zillion miles away, I wish it had been somewhere a little closer to the equator …

Probably

to escape her wacky family! :D

Actually, she’s always wanted out of the Midwest, and when a friend who moved there working in real estate appraisal said he’d have a job for her husband, they moved. Before my s-i-l got his license, that fell through. But they’ve been there about 2 1/2 years and are settling in – looking at buying a house and keep trying to get us to follow them.

So are you originally from Grass Valley? this place wasn’t formed in the psychadelic 60’s, was it? Not all that far from Berkeley … :)

Oh yeah..

.. some offspring providing a welcome somewhere like Belize would be good. Mind you, CA is quite a good option where i come from.

CA

was a terrible option – up north where we were it was about 35, windy and rainy, whereas here in the midwest states it was 60 and sunny.

Belize – ah… how I’d love to be there, right now. Almost went there in 2001, but foolishly chose Jamaica instead.

Right now it’s about 10 F (about -15 or -20 C) here, with a wicked wind. Bleah.

Holidays can be..

..like supermarket checkout queues; you just get in the wrong damned one. Or have you ever been in a restaurant, put loads of time into picking out the perfect meal, then when the food arrives you want what the other person got.
I feel for you, DoubleN. And -20C…wow. Wh doesn’t the whole world just move to a warm place. I bet with human ingenuity we could make the sahara a paradise on earth. Sorry, I’m rambling today. I include a pic of me on a beach in LA, just to remind you that the good times will come around. The always do.

Thanks

and nice shot! Was that cold ocean water as bad as anticipated?
