Ask questions that allow me to get to know my fellow 43Ters better (and play along myself) (read all 8 entries…)

These questions are inspired by me going and seeing Sweeney Todd last night, which features Helena Bonham Carter, who is one of my biggest celebrity crushes. She always looks stunning no matter how scary they try to make her look. Anyway:

1. Who is your current biggest celebrity crush?
2. Who was your first celebrity crush?

Me:
1. Despite my passion stated above as well as my fondness for Juliette Binoche(the ultimate in class, intelligence, and beauty), Charlize Theron and Uma Thurman, my biggest celebrity crush is easily Natalie Portman. Not only does she look amazing at all times(even when she’s bald), but she’s also highly intelligent and incredibly talented. The character of hers that caused me to fall in love with her is Sam in Garden State .

2. My first crush was Paula Abdul. Not only was the video to “Cold Hearted” the sexiest thing my tweleve year old eyes had ever seen, but I used to pretend she was singing her songs to me. (Reminder: I was 12) She was followed by my most embarassing crush: Tiffany.

Hahaha, Paula Abdul!!

I didn’t have a crush on her, but I did want to BE her for a year or two back in the day…

1. Current biggest celebrity crush: Hugh Laurie. I’m a pushover as far as Brits are concerned, a sucker for the multi-talented, and he more than qualifies. Actor, musician, comedian, crime novelist (yes). And cuts quite a charming figure to boot.

2. First: Hmmm. Probably Michael J. Fox in Back to the Future. I was 6. He was adorable in his high top sneaks and orange nylon vest, and such a badass with all that skateboarding dangerously behind moving vehicles. I really wanted to steal the DeLorean and send myself back about 10 years so I could grow up to be old enough for him. Alas. Instead, he made ill-advised sequels and I outgrew my crush. The only things that survive it are a thirst for science fiction, and a odd fondness for one or two singles by Huey Lewis and the News.

Marty McFly?

Really?! As if the guy who still feels kind of wistful every time he hears “Straight Up” has any room to talk :) However, I also have an odd fondness for Huey Lewis songs, too.

Give me a break, I was 6. ;)

Not that any of my celebrity crushes made any sense at any time during my youth. Other, later lucky fellas included Kadeem Hardison (AKA Dwayne Wayne from A Different World), Harry Anderson (AKA Judge Harry Stone from Night Court), Mandy Patinkin (as seen in both The Princess Bride (good!) and Yentl (gah!!!) and Wil Wheaton as the most hated Star Trek character of all time.

I’d like to think that my taste in men has improved with time, but sometimes I wonder…

Wow, I think I may have revealed too much…:D

I'm Not Sure

if you revealed too much or not, but your comment got a huge laugh out of me. I might even go so far as to call it a guffaw. :D

I guess I’ll let you off the hook, seeing as you were 6 and all!

in the spirit of revealing too much...

I had a totally mystifying crush on …
Balki on Perfect Strangers

funniculee is dredging up old memories of past literary loves

Hey, Balki at least makes some kind of odd sense.

Sure, he was goofy, but he was by far the cooler of the two. Now if you said you’d had a crush on Larry...well, I would be worried.

sweet infatuation

Current celebrity crush: James McAvoy. In “Becoming Jane” when he’s reading aloud to Jane Austen the passage about english countryside swallows mating, I almost fell off my seat. First celebrity crush: David Selby in Dark Shadows (he played Quentin the wolfman). I read in Sixteen Magazine his favorite book was Hesse’s Siddhartha and I was hooked. Thinking about crushes reminded me of some great women I used to work with. We talked about our current crushes like trading cards: “Okay, you can have Heath Ledger but I get Colin Firth!”. snort.

Wow

Celebrity Crush:

I am trying to think who I have a crush on who is someone I don’t know.

Coryn asked me today who my real life crush is Him and I wouldn’t tell her. I am such a dork. Anyway, I digress.

Oh, oh, oh. I remember. The guy on Law and Order, SVU. Oh, he does something to me. And Jesse Martin, the guy on Law and Order, regular edition. When he sang that love song about his castle on Rent, I pretended his character was straight and he was singing with me. A man that good looking who can sing? Ay!

And first celebrity crush was Peter Tork of the Monkees. I think I am older than the rest of you. He had great hair.

no way girl!

you are at the height of your womanly powers – so “older” is meaningless. I watched the Monkees on tv – Davey Jones was everyone’s favorite so you were a fierce independent to like Peter Tork! I think every guy in my junior-high tried those swoopy big bangs at some point!

You are making me smile, Sweet Jenny...

and on somewhat of a downward sloping day, I appreciate that more than you know…and thank you so much for the Super Cheer, you are so kind.

Crushing....

1. My current celebrity crush well that is a hard one – probably Clive Owen would be there right up at the top of my list. He’s certainly not hard on the eyes. I also find myself with a really strange attraction to Seth Rogen (Knocked Up) though. He’s just so cute.

2. As for first celebrity crush it was John Schneider fron the Dukes of Hazzard. I loved that show. I had a huge poster of him on the back of my bedroom door. I was like 9 years old.

The other big crush from my youth was John Cusack and I still like him. I watched Better off Dead so many times. Now that I’m older and he’s older I watch High Fidelity over and over :o)

The big JC

Don’t tell Marty, ‘coz I continually deny it, but I heart John Cusack too… have you seen Gross Point Blanke? He’s awesome. And cheers to High Fidelity too.

:o)

Your secret is safe with me

C is aware of my crush on JC and knows that High Fidelity is like one of my top 5 fave movies (hehe, like how I threw the top 5 thing in there?) He is just so adorable… Yeah I’ve seen Grosse Pointe Blanke – great movie – love the whole mafia thing and Minnie Driver is awesome. BIG CHEERS FOR JOHN CUSACK!! :o)

Good Morning!!

I came across this delightful picture of Ms. Bonham Carter and thought you’d enjoy it. =) That being said while I’m here I’ll answer your questions too…

1. Who is your current biggest celebrity crush?

Quite simply, Johnny Depp! From the moment I laid eyes on him back in his 21 Jump Street days. If he knocked on our front door today I would jump into his arms & squeal like a teenager!! {swoon} I could eat him up with a spoon!! Mmmmmmmm!!

2. Who was your first celebrity crush?

Well, that’s a bit more embarrassing. I guess I’d have to say Billy Hufsey from Fame, the television show, back in the mid-1980’s. I thought he was beyond dreamy & even better – he was a local boy! Through a funky twist of fate I got to meet him (and bowl with him, LOL) around 1989. Sadly, he was a complete & total douche bag! LOL!!

BUT Damn Girl

If that is not a pretty body…

OH see now where you’ve made my mind go.

I’ve got tight asses and stunning bods running rampant in here.

I know - what's come over me?

I too have my mind in the gutter…

~*Serenity*~ ... Smiles...

Ahhhh Hell D's gonna get it.

Should I warn him it’s coming. Or just let you Pounce.

There's NO warning him

Are you kidding me?

Mwahhahahahahahahahahahahaha!

I did indeed

enjoy that picture. It certainly helped fight the single digit temperatures we have here this morning. I even think she looks hot in Sweeney Todd and Fight Club, but that picture is an example of how naturally beautiful she is. I have a friend who is also in love with Johnny Depp. She even thinks he looks good at the end of Once Upon a Time In Mexico where he loses his eyes and in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

I hear you on the freeze factor

Since Tartsytown is in Cleveland, OH I can sympathize with cold. Glad to brighten your day!! As for Mr. Depp, he really keeps my fires stoked!! If I’m truthful I even found him adorable in Edward Scissorhands – LMAO!

You're from Cleveland?

I am a huge Indians fan and a huge Browns fan. I think I am going to start telling people that I root for the Tartsytown Indians and the Tartsytown Browns. I especially like the rhyming factor that comes into play with Tartsytown Browns.

I am!!

I’ve been quietly watching you for awhile so I gathered your love for my hometown hero’s or zero’s depending on who you ask, lol! I fully authorize the use of the name Tartsytown Browns because it cracks me up!! As a side note: I was interviewed by one of the Brown’s super fans, The Bone Lady. There’s an entry about it here so you can see her freaky visage. So tell me – why is it that you root for Ohio teams? Inquiring minds want to know…

christinet has been in a cave of despair
