By ”.Net”, I’m assuming you mean the framework, not just a particular language? The .Net Framework is enormous, especially considering the multitude of things that have just recently been added with the dubiously titled “3.5” release.

You can look for several books on the .Net Framework, but honestly I’d save yourself some money and become intimately familiar with www.msdn.com. From there you can find scores of articles from previous issues of MSDN magazine that give excellent overviews of various components of the framework. I’d also recommend perusing (you are a self-proclaimed geek, right?) the Class Library to familiarize yourself with the layers of the framework and the functionality it provides.
