Name decided, next GUI and mentor 23 months ago

Finally came up with an ok name for the app, though I’m not sharing it yet.

Next I’ll continue my work on the GUI. Still some paper sketches to be done, then XHTML mockups.

I’d like to find a mentor for this process, but I don’t know who to approach about it.

Language and framework?

Have you decided what language and framework to use?

I know from experience that Ruby on Rails makes it easy to develop your app iteratively and make quick progress.

I’m sure there are plenty of other good choices but I just thought I’d throw that thought your way. Have fun!

Thinking of using Django

My plan is to use Python/Django as I find Python nice in general.

I have been annoyingly sluggish with this project. I should just speed up a bit. Funny, because when I get around to focus on it, it is fun.

Good choice

I have a friend who enjoys programming in Python. He has used Django and my impression is that if you already know Python go for Django whereas if you already know Ruby go for Rails.

Go for it. I’m sure you’ll have fun and, if you need help, there’ll be Python/Django people willing to lend a hand.
